Many of the creatures in southern California’s offshore waters are episodic visitors. Some travel vertically in the water column depending upon the season or the time of day or night.
Zooplankton (sea jellies) “bloom” at various times of the year. Some proliferate over longer cycles.
Summer visitors include game fishes, flying fish and occasionally, loggerhead turtles.
Once in a while, episodic visitors make dramatic appearances…
